Statement Of Purpose: Career/Technical Education

Like many kids in ninth and tenth grade, we didn’t know what we wanted to do after high school, or what career we wanted to pursue. For me, I took one class that lead me to a series of classes that put me on the path that I am walking down today. The class I took was Architectural Drawing & Design (AD&D), which pushed me down the path of Career/Technical Education (CTE) classes. These classes gave helped me launch the call to adventure and later prepared me to cross the threshold, steps in the hero’s journey that I am on. Along the way of preparation, I meet two mentors that really molded me to what I have become today. I was so focused on getting good grades and doing well that I forgot have fun and relax. My dad used to say “high school is one of the easiest times in your life,” and looking back it was, but I made it harder then it needed to be my freshman year. I took classes that I was not interested in, and focused only on grades. I only took one class freshman that captured my interest and that was Technical Drawing and Design. The teacher wasn’t great and the class was average at best, but for some reason it interested me. It led me to continue to the next level class, and that class was Architecture Drawing & Design. The people I thank for getting me to this place are my mentors Mr. Nadalen and Mr. Thomasser, for calling me to do something exciting and different. To continue on this adventure, I have to complete a five-year program and graduate with a degree. If it wasn’t for my mentors I would probably still not know what I wanted to do in my life and would be wasting a college education on deciding a major. In the end, I also gathered some professional and technological literacy. That is something many of the students at my school didn’t have. I also launched my hero’s journey in my time in high school and will continue till the finish college hopefully. With the experience and lessons learned I know I am better prepared for any challenges I may face in the next couple of years. I am ready to continue my hero’s journey and learn even more along the
