I’m interested in joining the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated. I would love to join this organization, because I love what they stand for and what they have done for the world so far. They have done things as opening school in Haiti and Africa, Delta house in Africa, and many other things. It will also help me get started with my plan on opening a youth center in Haiti.
I am most attracted to Loma Linda University’s mission to make man whole and continue the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus Christ and its commitment to faith and science. As a Seventh-day Adventist christian, the motto to make man whole has never been more personal than it is now. As I grow in my experience as a christian, to further the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus continues to take center stage. This mission and an understanding of the need for whole person care is something I seek to demonstrate and encourage through my profession as a nurse and involvement in my community.
Since I heard about the National Junior Honor Society in sixth grade, I wanted to be a part of it because I have always wanted to make a difference in our community, and joining NJHS would help make that possible. I also want to become a part of NJHS because I want to make our school better, by helping students get more involved with after-school activities, like going to football games, and community service, even if it’s as small as donating a can or two to the food bank. Growing up, I attended a very family oriented school that has helped me to grow, by exposing me to people who perform care taking roles. My involvement in the National Honor Society and other activities helped me mature and required me to develop the four pillars of personal leadership, service, character, and scholarship that allow me to connect with different people outside of my peer group. Immersing myself in these social groups, guided me to fully commit to and carry out many responsibilities. Since the ninth grade, I have been a part of my high school’s basketball team, which has taught me leadership and enriched my communication skills. Being a member of high-school teams helped me understand that sometimes I need to drop the walls I keep in place to allow my team members and I to work together as one family.

Through my curiosity in my current Honors Biology course, I want to be able to learn more about this fascinating topic outside of the classroom. There’s so much to science and I simply do not know where to go. While I love learning about biology, there’s only so much to do. This year, we have only been covering the general background on ecological and molecular biology. I feel as if there is still so much more to learn.
