I am the ideal candidate for the Kelley School of Business because I am eager for the challenges and rewards this higher education will bring me. I strive to become the best employee, friend, or student so that I can lead by example for others around me. I continue to excite myself with new experiences and this one would be the most mentionable. From those experiences, I have gained valuable skills that will help me in my career. Things such as, working well under extreme pressure, remaining calm and organized within hectic environments, and especially being time efficient. At times, so many things were happening at once that it would have been easy to give in to the tremendous stress and pressure this line of work comes with. Despite this, I quickly became one of the most reliable servers on staff without having any previous restaurant experience. I overcame the lack of knowledge by learning from my mistakes the first time and managing the chaos around me. Prioritizing, multitasking, and keeping a tight schedule were all essential to be a good server. But, accompanying those essentials with a positive attitude made me the best.
A skill I hope to improve is breaking out of my somewhat shy personality. Being able to talk to co-workers and higher management with confidence is very important, in the business world or in everyday conversation. After my job as a server and progressing through multiple group projects throughout my schooling, I have learned to move past most of my introverted tendencies. I also hope to excel in the rigorous team projects I’ve heard so much about from other students. I believe if I continue immersing myself into team atmospheres I would only be benefitted from
