Statement Of Purpose: The Stanford GSB

The Stanford GSB is by far my top choice for business school. This conviction was amplified by a recent campus visit; I have never felt more at home when visiting a school. From the type of people it attracts to the opportunities it provides, Stanford has everything I want in a school and more.
Even something as seemingly simple as Stanford’s motto resonates with me. My life for the last seven years has been all about change. I have undergone a drastic transformation with the help of many people, and I want to give back by bettering the lives of others. I truly want to change the world. And because Stanford puts such an emphasis on change, it attracts the type of people who want to change the world as well. The alumni I have met want to do more than to just build a company that sells a product, they want to build a company that fundamentally improves an aspect of peoples’ lives.
In order to make my own mark on the world, my ultimate goal is to facilitate change by getting involved in an incubator or venture capital firm that helps companies looking to tackle social issues, like education or healthcare. Since going into …show more content…

Stanford’s core curriculum will ground me in the business fundamentals of finance, marketing, operations, organizational behavior and strategy, while Touchy Feely and Leadership Labs will help me understand and modify my leadership style. Additionally, courses like Entrepreneurial Finance and Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital will deepen my understanding about the venture capital industry and move me closer to my ultimate goal. Further, Stanford’s Center for Social Innovation offers a Certificate in Public Management & Social Innovation, courses like Social Entrepreneurship and Funding Social Impact: Methods and Measurement, the Impact Funding Lab, and much more, all of which I hope to take advantage of if I am fortunate enough to
