In this research project, I will examine the question of whether or not StepKo Products LLC should invest in a Business Continuity Management Program (BCCM). Before this question can be answered, there must be some information ascertained before the decision is made by the company in developing a business crisis and continuity management program. StepKo Products LLC is a ten year old company with one 20,000 square foot manufacturing facility located in Broussard, Louisiana. The company employees eight full and five part time employees, which consist of the management team, sales, shipping and manufacturing. Stepko does have an emergency evacuation plan for their facilities and the requirements needed for the plan to work correctly, and all employees practice the procedures for the plan to be successful. The research project will also identify the viable components that could be adopted by StepKo Products LLC, and hope to see the value of the company’s adopting a BCCM program. I think small businesses like Stepko can and should have a written BCCM plan that covers the basic information of what the procedures are for the company in crisis or continuity mode. Stepko management needs to open communication within the organization with both management and all the employees, which the two groups can work to make the plan useful and functional. The first step that Stepko needs to complete is developing a risk assessment of the business. The risk assessment should be broad and cover all the aspects of possible risks, which should include natural and man-made disasters. In the risk assessment, the business needs to work with external organizations in finding the capabilities of the external organizations. This type of information will be very useful by Stepko in developing their own BCCM plan, which it will pin point the strengths and weaknesses of the business’s NCCM
