“Knowing what not to do is just as important as deciding what to do”(Isaacson 5). Steve Jobs lived through a time of electronic advancements and a time where companies weren’t as wealthy and were just starting, making them strict. Steve Jobs impacted American history by responding to being fired from Apple and pancreatic cancer by maturing in terms of leadership, changing his diet, and trying alternative treatments instead of optimal treatment. Steve Jobs was born on February 24th, 1955, in San Francisco, California. He was “interested in engineering”(Levy 2), dropped out of Reed College and took a job at Atari Corporation as a video game designer in early 1974. Steve Jobs impacted America with significant changes to technology, from learning better leadership after getting fired from his own company, and fighting cancer by showing that great people can still make mistakes. Steve Jobs legacy led to one of the biggest companies making groundbreaking technologies and products. I agree with the way he handled getting fired from his own company, Apple, but the way he handled his cancer wasn’t very ideal, although it probably helped with some medical research. It’s important to research not just about America’s past, but the world’s past too because it can help us learn from the mistakes of others and learn how not to fall into the same mistakes that others have made. These research skills are even more important in the future because technology is improving rapidly and because we can learn from mistakes we make or that we are making in this moment. Source 1.
