In Williams’ play The Streetcar Named Desire, the character Blanche have done things and saw things in the past that she is not proud of. These things could not be overlooked no matter where she went her past haunted her. It was like a burden on her shoulders and always holding her back prohibiting her from doing the things she desires. These past actions along with the views made Blanche into the lying lost minded person she was upon the entrance of her sister’s home, and it also influenced the behavior of her surroundings, such as the loss of Bella Reve, the loss of her loved one, and the reason of the loss of her job. Blanche tells a lot of lies, not just to Mitch but to Stanley and Stella also, and this starts a long trail lies she has to cover. Upon the coming to New Orleans, Blanche tells her sister false information about the loss of Belle Reve. Stanley always suspected her to be a liar and searched for evidence. He finds the truth about her, and this is significant in the play because it turned everyone against her just like back in Laurel. It is also significant because in the play Stanley raped Blanche and Stella does not listen to her because she thinks Blanche has lost her mind from all the traumatic experiences. …show more content…

She was the cause of his death, and this caused her to be a very nerve wrecked person. After his death she felt as if she needed to sleep with many men seeking comfort which affected her future with Mitch. Blanch really wanted to be with Mitch, and Mitch even says he needs someone as do Blanche. The finding of Blanche’s past causes Mitch to lose interest in her, and he pushed her love away.
