Coming from a different culture but still embracing the Christian values that Loma Linda University emphasizes, I believe that my unique background and personal experiences distinguish my application from others. Growing up in Egypt, where the gap between social classes is significant, my parents always stressed the need to prioritize service into my life encouraging me to dedicate time in volunteering and helping others. As a result, my experience has grown from volunteering to serve as a camp leader for orphans in the summer to participating in international dental service trips. After I graduate high school, I stand determined to pursue my dream: to become a civil engineer and create hurricane-resistant infrastructure along the Gulf Coast. Both in and out of school I support the Five Pillars of the NJHS, which are scholarship, service, citizenship, character, and leadership. Hello! Welcome to the Jr. Honors Academy! We are so excited for an amazing year! My name is Crista Ponder, and I will be serving as the Jr. Honors Academy sponsor. I am the 8th-grade Science and Social Studies Teacher at Riverdale.
My family consist one big sister and little brother. I 'm hardworking being part in multiple clubs and sports such as, National Honor Society, Youth Council of Laredo, the Football team and in a basketball team in the spurs league. Being in these clubs and sports showed me to be dedicated, hardworking, adapt, time management, team work, and most importantly help out the community. I have a special bond with my mom, she 's there when I need her. What I want to be when I grow up is become a surgeon.
My job as a patient care technician allowed me to care for numerous individuals from a variety of backgrounds. Through this experience, I came to the realization that I loved people. I loved hearing their stories and the secret hopes and fears they would share with me in the dead of the night. I realized that I wanted to have a career where I could not only help people, but learn from them as well. I believe a career in the healthcare field would allow me to do this.
I would like to become an active member of Carrboro High School’s National Honor Society in order to benefit my community through service. I am immensely committed to serving and improving my community, as I have made distinctly clear with my 143 service hours. Through these service hours, I have focused on the improvement of the future community by helping disenfranchised refugee children coming from horrible living conditions in Western Africa, by teaching children about biology, chemistry, and scientific history, by preparing freshmen for their high school careers, by raising money to protect and aid voiceless animals hurt in car crashes and other human infringements, and by creating rain gardens, planting food crops, and decreasing Carrboro High School’s environmental
To become a member of the highly esteemed National Honors Society would mean that I have achieved my goal of being an archetype student for North Penn High School. To be blunt, I had stressed over applying for NHS for quite a while, but it was not until mid-way through the application process in which I realized my life is based around the qualities that the National Honor Society holds in high value. I have been yearning to be a part of this remarkable organization since I graduated my freshman year as an officer in NJHS. Since then, my time has been filled with countless volunteering and involvement in extracurricular activities. I am very passionate about what I become invested into, and I work at achieving my goals to the fullest.
Students that have been a part of National Honor Society at Robert Vela High School have become outstanding individuals and have shown selflessness and a desire to aid their community in any way possible. It is because of this that it would be an honor to follow in the footsteps of those before me and continue to do service that will help my community and my school. Personal Statement One positive quality about me is that I love to help other people. Throughout my life, I have been cultivating my skills to help everybody I see. I have always felt the need to help make the world better even if it takes an eternity to do so. One of the few instances I can remember where I was being helpful was when I had the opportunity to tutor young students in elementary and middle school. Another situation that comes to mind is when I took part in martial arts.
The Underlying Causes of World War I The air is crisp as the breeze flows through the silk curtains, making a rippling noise that fills the silent room. The sun beams onto the kitchen table shining the tears in the eyes of my mother. Our breath matching in intensity as the news of war rips though the country like a wildfire. The rooms despondent disposition is sliced through when my mother mutters “Better war than this perpetual waiting” with a smile.
Just as I have to find ways to keep my relationship with my wife moving in a positive direction, I also have to carry out this mandate with my fellow man. I’ve learned that while college can teach a person how to perform a specific task for an employer, some of the on-campus organizations give the student the opportunity to interact with all types of people. The student is exposed to diverse points-of-view, ethnicities, and walks of life to name a few things. It is the students’ responsibility to recognize this opportunity, and take full advantage of it. I have had the pleasure of utilizing my experience with teams from college in my professional career.
I believe that the mission of a student ambassador is to promote the vision, growth and quality of University of Maryland, by optimizing the experience of current students, prospective students and special guests. I would like to be a student ambassador primarily because I want to get more involved with the university; not to mention the positive impact it will have on my CV. I would also gain experience in public speaking, building friendships with fellow ambassadors and develop my leadership skills. Furthermore, this offers a responsibility that can be both challenging and extremely rewarding.
