Sugar, the most heavenly, delightful and enjoyable substance on earth. What do you think of when you hear sugar? You probably think of the sweetest and deadliest, unhealthy unnatural substance that manufacturers put in your daily diet that is bad for your health, which is sadly true. Manufacturers add Sucrose to their products, but the sugar we are referring to here are different chemical compounds which are found in our bodies, fruits and in many of our food products. Two main sugars that are much healthier than Sucrose is Fructose; a simple sugar which is a natural sugar found in fruits, and glucose in our carbohydrates which is a compound sugar found in many food items such a dairy products and pasta. Our body cannot function without sugar; we need a sufficient supply of sugar, why you may ask? We use sugar for many main functions in our body for example carbohydrates in our bodies provide energy for working muscles, it also provides fuel for the central nervous system and enables fat metabolism. How? After carbohydrates are consumed, they are broken down to smaller sugar molecules which are transported to tissue, muscles and many major organs such as the brain, where it is used as energy. …show more content…
Well, simple sugars such as fructose is our fuel of sorts, it gives us a boost of necessary energy to complete the sporting event. We also need sugar when exercising for respiring; respiration releases energy for cells from glucose whether we were respiring aerobically or
