Key Information Technology Stakeholders
In the health care industry, it is important that organizations have various information technology stakeholders to improve the overall quality of care. Stakeholders, such as programmers, systems analyst, and database administrator play a crucial role in the health care sector. For, each stakeholder is a qualified professional that have several responsibilities in the IT department. In this paper, I’m going discuss the three stakeholder roles mentioned previously by giving information about their duties as an IT leader.
The Programmer
The programmer is a stakeholder that needed in the health care IT department. Their primary role is to maintain the programs on the computer so it can function well. According to Karen Wager and her co-authors, there are two types of programmers, which are applications and system (Wager, Lee, & Glaser, 2013). Application programmer responsibility is to write programs to handle certain user tasks (Wager, Lee, & Glaser, 2013). They are the professionals who determine what hardware or a software system desired in the new development of information technology (Wager, Lee, & Glaser, 2013). Like programmers, system analyst has a strong computer programming background (Wager, Lee, & Glaser, 2013). They work with programmers to eliminate errors in the information system (Wager, Lee, & Glaser, 2013). In the hospital, an analyst can design the systems to solve the solutions. For example, an analyst can create a program like the “hold minute report” so the administrators can see the actual time it takes for a patient to move to a room from the clinic.
