On July 15th, 2008, Caylee Marie Anthony, two-years-old, was reported missing by her maternal grandmother, Cynthia Anthony. On December 11th, 2008 a man named Roy Kronk found a plastic bag containing human remains in a wooded area near the Anthony’s home in Florida (1). The suspects in this case were Zenaida “Zanny” Fernandez Gonzalez and Casey Anthony. This case had a number of witnesses including Casey’s parents, friends, and family. Dr. Arpad Vass a forensic anthropologist, Dr. Tim Huntington a forensic entomologist, Dr. John Shultz a UCF anthropology professor, and chief medical examiner Dr. Jan Garvaglia and many others in the forensic science community were all critical witnesses during the trial (2).

On July 15, 2008, Cindy Anthony announced that her two-year old granddaughter Caylee, had not been seen for nearly a month. Also, she wanted her daughter Casey Anthony taken into custody for robbing a car and money. Casey lied many times to investigators and displayed no emotion about her daughters disappearance. On October 14, 2008, Casey Anthony was arraigned by a Florida grand jury on first degree murder, aggravated child abuse, aggravated manslaughter of a child, and four counts of providing false information to a law enforcement officer. Later, human remains were identified as Caylee's on December 11, 2008, in the woods approximately a quarter of a mile from the Anthony residence.
The police confiscated the family’s clothing as evidence, and the parents were sent to a motel while the two surviving children, Michael and Shannon, were sent to the county’s shelter for children. The young, mentally scarred children were not only separated from their family, they were not allowed to see them for two days. Without parental consent or attorneys present, Michael and Shannon were taken to the police station to be questioned about the murder of their sister. The police took Michael several times, and was singled out by the Escondido police because of how distant he seemed after his sister's body was discovered. Although some people believe that George Anthony, Casey’s father, was involved with the death of Caylee Anthony, the most plausible cause would be Casey murdering her child. To initiate, Keith Ablow is an author who has done extensive research and wrote a book on the Casey Anthony case, states in his book multiple ways Caylee Anthony could’ve died from. He expresses that Casey would have murdered her daughter in order to avoid “her mothers threat” to kick her out of the house and gain custody of Caylee. Casey Anthony has a very selfish and childish attitude towards many things, she has not much of her own and is very reliant on her parents. If they were to cut her off and take her child she would have nothing to her name.
On June 15, 2008 Caylee Anthony went missing. Caylee Anthony had been missing for a month before anyone even decided to report her absence. Casey, Caylee’s mother, tells the police that the nanny of two years has kidnapped her daughter. Casey also reports that she did not call the police sooner because she had been on the hunt for her missing child herself.

August 5, 2008 is when Casey is officially charged with child neglect, but is soon released on a $500,000 bail.
