One of the best books that I read a long time ago was a book called Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli. The book is narrated by her fellow classmate Leo, takes no time to tell the readers about his love for porcupine ties. He begins his story introducing her, saying her name is Stargirl Caraway who is different from her classmates and the society around her. He observes her and finds out that she was homeschooled ever since first grade and she suddenly attends high school, leaving her class to cast suspicion on her. She has a rather unique sense of fashion, different interests and different behavior
This book was interesting for me because it allowed me to relate to a character. I love reading novels that not only allow me to feel a connection with a character, but allow me to relate to their personality or
I have just finished reading The Silent Sister by Diane Chamberlain. This book is about Riley MacPherson who grows up in a loving but sorrowful family consisting of her mother, father, and her brother, Danny. She believes that her sister, Lisa, commited suicide as a teenager when she was only two. Riley returns to her childhood home following the death of her father, and she starts to discover secrets about her sister. Riley finds out that she is still alive, and makes it her mission to find her so she can be apart of her life.
I just finished reading Hound Dog True, by Linda Urban. The plot is about a girl named Mattie Breen. She is once the new girl at her new school in one week. I loved this book and how it analyzed all the parts of the plot and sequences of the story structure. The author is very good at structuring the story to flow along throughout the story even as the story changes from present to past generations.
It 's a jaw-dropping book that will leave you wanting more as the author Laurie writes in a crisp and clear way describing the young girl Melinda’s horrific story and how it unfolds. The author 's tone gives off the vibe of a young frighted girl which I find really enhances this sad, but exhilarating story. This story taught me to always speak up for myself and to never let anyone take advantage of me. I would recommend this novel because it is extremely detailed, painting vivid pictures in your mind that really help to magnify and
In my favorite series, Red Rising, the main character is relatable and life-like. From the beginning of the trilogy, Darrow, the protagonist, is developed through his personality and actions, yet he is never predictable since he is constantly undergoing a metamorphosis. During the course of the novel, he is young and foolish, fights for love, and then evolves into a mature young adult who is willing to risk his life for the greater good of his people. Disappointingly in The Road, the characters are linear: the boy is kind and angelic while the man remains the guardian. Another novel that I really enjoy for the connection that I developed with the character is Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card.
I really liked the book “The Silver Star” which is written by Jeannette Walls. The book is about two young girls, whose mother left them alone for a while just for her career and she comes back when she realizes that her daughters have gone through a lot of difficulties and problems. When their mother left them they went to their Uncle Tinsley’s house in Byler. In Byler, they come to know about their father’s family and how their paternal family and maternal family relationship were. I really liked how these two sisters relationship were.
My book is Heaven is Paved with Oreos, By Catherine Gilbert Murdock. Summary: Sara Zorn is an average 14-year-old girl. She’s smart, funny, awkward, shy. Sara has a crush on her best guy-friend, Curtis Schwenk, but doesn’t realize it, saying she isn’t a “boy-liker”.
The book I chose was Pretty Little Liars: Book One Arc One by Sara Shepard. The book is about secrets and a group of friends: Alison “ Ali” DiLaurentis, the “perfect” yet cunning queen bee, Emily Fields, the swimmer with secret feelings, Aria Montgomery, the rebel of the group, Hanna Marin, the one who is aiming for popularity and to be like Alison, and finally, Spencer Hastings, the perfectionist who has no problem fighting back against Ali. The summer before 8th grade, the group has a sleepover one night when Ali suddenly goes missing. The book fast forwards three years later when the girls are in high school and not speaking to each other. Hanna is the new queen bee, Emily is still swimming and still keeping her secret, Aria is back from
The book I chose to read for Unit 4 was the book, “Everything, Everything”, by Nicola Yoon. The book’s cast of characters is few, the main character who we’re seeing the world through is named Madeline Whittier, but she goes by Maddy for most of the book. The other protagonist besides Maddy is her neighbor, a boy named Olly, who Maddy finds interesting. The book has no clear antagonist, but the implied antagonist is Maddy’s mother, who prevents Maddy from going outside. Besides the three of them, there is also Carla, Maddy’s personal nurse, and Olly’s family, comprised of a sister, mother, and an abusive father.
I liked “Just another girl” from the get go. The book started out interesting and was so well written that I wanted to keep reading throughout the whole book. In the book I thought that I should look at my own life and analyze how I am living my everyday standards. I look up to Aster, how she concentrates on her demeanor and believes in herself. Like other teens her age, Aster does not focus on what others think of her, but what she thinks of herself.
I am currently reading Someone Like You by Sarah Dessen. The main protagonist in this novel is named Halley; a shy and quiet girl. She meets her opposite and unlikely best friend at age eleven when Scarlett moves to Lakeview a “neighborhood of friends” (Dessen 6). However, everything turns south at the beginning of their grade eleven year. Scarlett’s boyfriend dies in a motorcycle accident.
The book that I chose to read was “The Color Purple”. The book was set around the early 20th century. The story is narrated by a young women named Celie. In the beginning of the story, Celie’s mom is deathly ill. Her mother is dating a guy named Fonso, but he isn’t an upright guy.
Students should keep reading this book because it teaches them the lessons I stated above. Those lessons are important because they are very valuable and we will use them now and later in
Throughout the book it explains different things you can do to help you through your life. One is to be proactive another is to begin with the end in mind. The 3rd is put first things first the 4th is the win-win. And so on they all show and explain that there are things that can happen to you and
