VARK is an acronym for visual, aural, read/write, and kinesthetic learning methods, and is a questionnaire consisting of 16 questions, which have answers that are not right or wrong, that allows the user to understand their preferred method of learning (VARK, 2017). The author’s scored visual-14, aural-12, read/write-16, kinesthetic-16 indicating the author is a multimodal learner with emphasis on reading/writing, kinesthetic, and visual. A multimodal learner can use several strategies for learning and may need to have material presented in multiple methods to fully understand the information (VARK, 2017). The questionnaire is not a predictable method of how an instructor teaches (Fleming, 2012). Provided that, if a teacher answers the VARK questions, it suggests how they learn, and not how they instruct (Fleming, 2012). The methods an instructor uses to teach may or may not be similar to the methods they use to learn (Fleming, 2012).
