What is your personal learning style? Is your preferred learning style the same as your personal learning style? VARK was created by Dr. Alan Wright to help people have a better idea about their learning styles and preferred learning methods. Dr. Wright created VARK because, being an instructor of many years, he wondered why some students were able to take in the information better than other students. VARK identifies four different modes of learning; which are visual (or graphic), auditory, reading/writing, and kinesthetic. Through sixteen targeted questions narrows down each individual’s preferred modalities of learning. My preferred learning style, according to the VARK questionnaire, is multimodal with the focus on ARK (Wright, n.d.).
