Journal Entry 1 Through recent readings and material presented through my EDU 528 course, I’ve gained an insight into Gregorc Style Delineator, a self-assessment instrument used for determining adult mind style. Basically, I’ve gained specific information of how my mind works and now have a better understanding of why and how this information relates to my learning /teaching style. The analysis of the data as described and interpreted by Anthony F. Gregorc, describes me as a concrete random learner. I found it very interesting to obtain the analysis of how my mind works after taking this assessment. I agree with the data that I read and feel that it does relate to me personally. For example, if I sense a particular student may feel uncomfortable with an assignment, I may take (a risk) and step back and review the situation to give him or her an opportunity to do the assignment in a different way. Teacher lessons are best designed for this learner to be practical, specific and with concrete examples. The Abstract Sequential learner learns best by teacher applications that provide practices for conceptualizing, analyzing, hypothesizing, synthesizing and drawing conclusions. The Abstract Random learner learns best with being provided the opportunity to receive instruction in an unstructured, (aesthetic preferred) environment where connections can be made to illustrate the mood or specific topic with the use of visuals such as, movies, videos by other technological methods. With the Concrete Random thinker, these learners gain positive experiences through brainstorming, creative problem solving, investigative activities and inquiry
