Argument Paper Do you support school uniforms? According to Debate.org 70% of people do not support school uniforms.They do not solve any problems schools have. School uniforms should not be imposed on any students.
To begin, schools already have restrictions on what students wear. Almost all schools have a dress code. The dress code makes sure the students wear appropriate clothes for school. According to Newsday, “Besides, most schools that don’t have uniforms have dress codes, so we already have some guidelines about what to wear” (Powers 1). Public schools that have dress code have multiple restraints on shorts, tank tops, dresses, etc. The text also states, “Also, all clothing has to be appropriate and safe for school, and cannot cause a distraction” (Powers 1). The clothes we wear to school have to be appropriate and not have inappropriate words/picture on them. Since schools already have dress codes, they should not have uniforms. …show more content…

Students can bully each other about anything. They can bully about skin color, how they talk, where they live, etc. The Olympian states, “Being bullied is just as likely when you are in uniform as when you aren’t in uniform. Uniforms don’t make everyone the same. They just make everyone look the same” (Doyle 1). Uniforms can not prevent bullying because they do not change the student’s personalities. The text also states, “Teachers assume that if everyone wears the same thing, no one can make fun of each other for what they wear. That may be true, but your clothes are not who you are” (Doyle 1).
