Two sides of the same coin.
Swedish and American schools in comparison.
In this essay, I’m going to compare the US education system with the Swedish one and present both similarities and differences between the two. I will also reflect on the points given with my own thoughts and opinion.
In the United States when a child is five years old they can start Kindergarten and when you are 18 you finish high school, just like in Sweden. A normal school day begins around 9 am in America whilst normally It’s around 8 am in Sweden. Both countries finish around the same time, 3 PM. In America, The teacher calls for an assembly In the morning where the teacher calls the students names out loud to check who attended class.. Some schools in Sweden have a morning assembly but not all and not every day. The school year starts and ends around the same time, August/ September to May/June. You have your individual schedule and that’s something that I would like to have in Sweden, because in Sweden you attend class with the same people everyday, with the exception of foreign languages where you meet students from other classes. I just think that It’d help you get to know a lot more people compared to being in the same class with the same people everyday. Also in US many private schools require students to wear school uniforms. In Sweden you can dress as you like, there are no rules about it. In my opinion that is good, I like to wear my own clothes. A lot of people express their personality with the way they dress and to be required to wear something may not be that big of a deal for some but for others, It may. In Sweden, parents and teachers are very much involved in the student’s education. Students and parents attend meetings regularly and receive feedback from teachers. Parent-teacher-student meetings are frequent in the US but not necessarily
