French schools and American schools have a lot of differences, and a few similarities. The schools, classes, extracurricular activities, and schedule are a part of both. The French are considered to be more intelligent than the average American student. Some of the ways they learn in France show that they are more focused on school than anything else. The schools in American are unalike from the ones in France in some ways. In America, the lunches are 30 minutes long and the student has to stay at school unless signed out by a parent. Children will start going to school around the age of 5 or 6 and go to Kindergarten for only one year. Students have to pass the baccalaureate to move on to college studies. Universities definitely don’t cost as much as they do in America. They cost about $500. Colleges won’t really look at extracurricular activities either. Most schools don't even offer sports or other extracurricular activities. If a student wants to play a sport it has to outside of school. Students also don’t have much time for anything other than school. Completing homework takes about 4-6 hours every night. Students barely have a social life because of school, homework and strict parents. French and American schools are very different, but they do have some similarities. Both countries have summer, fall, winter/Christmas, and spring breaks. The school day starts around 8:00-9:00 and will end around 3:00-4:00. Neither countries have school on Sundays. There are different levels of school: kindergarten, elementary, middle, high school, and college. The graduation rate in both countries is around 70%-80%.
