Even though it is now such a large company, Duke Energy was not always such a ‘powerhouse’ in the energy world.
Verizon Wireless Verizon Wireless is a telecommunications company that offers wire, wireless and data transmission services that cover internet access as well as media broadcasting. The company formed in the year 2000 was as a result of a merger between GTE and Bell Atlantic. With the mention of Verizon Wireless, many people in the United States are able to associate it with everyday telecommunication solutions and as the leading service provider in the same industry. Under Verizon wireless, there is Verizon telecom, Verizon wires and Verizon business. With a mission to empower people as well as businesses in communication, the company endeavors to provide open communication with all its stakeholders.

Verizon has the opportunity in the current economy and is in a great position within its industry to strengthen its number one position market by evaluating the current price plans and include an option to have unlimited data. Brand recognition and customer loyalty have afforded Verizon to continue to charge a premium price for the service it provides. In this technology driven society data is no longer a luxury and is considered to be a critical component to preform everyday task. Customers will pay for the peace of mind to know their bill will not be impacted by additional data fees.
Like other products in the marketplace, there are threats and challenges for the salesforce. At this moment, the biggest challenges for the salesforce is that EvaDrop is in its final stages of manufacturing. There is no product testing available yet for the public. Therefore, it is more difficult to capture a public's interest and hard to predict consumer acceptance of the product. Furthermore, there are similar products that are already for sales on the market.
C. The forecast for Verizon With Verizon dealing with competition to stay technologically sound, it would not be ideal to integrate backwards. Instead, they are forward vertically integrating into the new markets that their competitors have created. One of these markets is the one that DirecTV and AT&T have created with television, phone, and internet. AT&T's move is part of what has become a growing trend. Verizon has recently merged with Motorola, creating FiOS.
The two companies I chose were from the NYSE. They are Verizon communication and Sprint Corporation. They are both well-known companies in the U.S. They represent the upper echelon the telecom and wireless communication industry. Their main competitor are T-Mobile, and AT&T.
As mentioned before, the market share is based on the big four suppliers in the wireless industry. The leading wireless company in the telecommunications industry, Verizon has a market share of approximately 34.9% . The way the market share is determined is by the amount of subscribers each wireless industry has. In the first quarter of 2011 Verizon had a market share of 33 %, AT&T 32%, Sprint 17%, and T-mobile at 11%. As of the third quarter of 2016, some of the numbers were surprisingly different and some significantly dropped.
