Throughout my life, I have always wanted to make a difference in the world. As a child, I thought I was destined to be a superhero that would save the world. Next, I hoped to be the first female Thunderbird pilot serving my country. In recent years, my dreams have changed many times, but the dream would have the same underlying desire. I realized I wanted to help people be the best they could be, no matter what situation they faced.
When I was in my middle and high school years, my mother was an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher. This inspired me to be a Teacher Aide in an Adaptive P.E. class at Tanque Verde High School in 2015. As I worked with my peers with disabilities, I watched them grow physically stronger, become more sociable and gain confidence. This class sparked the desire to work with those who had disabilities. During the summer of 2016, I worked as an Inclusion Specialist at Tucson Parks and Recreation. To reach my goals, I had to challenge myself. For this reason, I often chose more rigorous courses at school, which include Advanced Placement (AP) and Dual Enrollment (DE) courses. By taking courses like AP Spanish, I am becoming bilingual, and expanding my ability to interact with other cultures. These rigorous courses have taught me to be responsible and honest with myself to determine when I need extra instruction in certain subject areas. These advanced courses have also required that I take more responsibility for my education by becoming an independent learner. By understanding how others feel, and with the advanced class experience I have, it allowed me to sympathize and tutor other students who needed help in similar
