From graduation to this day, I have been continually volunteering at St.Monica as a teachers assistant. Working with the younger grades was very special to me because it gave me the opportunity to work with children full of energy and creativity. Helping these kids learn and grow through the years has brought true happiness and motivation to continue my quest towards becoming a better citizen. Humans find happiness within the community and working with others brings out that happiness. To be an inspiring teachers assistant, one must display rational behaviour throughout every action as this is the key to being a happy and collaborative citizen. The children I worked with had also taught me a great deal about respecting others and the importance of the golden rule. Shared by Jesus Christ, to follow the golden rule you must "Do to others what you want them to do to you.”. Relating to the philosophy of Levinas, we must look to the face of another and treat them as of that was us in their shoes. To contribute to the community we must drop all racism, sexism, and ageism because we are all equal in the eyes of God and we were all blessed with a unique gift to share with the world. A child has a sense of innocence and it is not until we are older, that one's skin colour, gender, or age, expresses ones character over the actions f that human being. Other than contributing in the classroom, I had moved to other areas of the school. This included library assistance, which had tested my organization skills and monitoring awareness. It is always fun to try different things and learn new skills. Not only has my work at St. Monica taught me so much, but I have also learned the ethics and morals of refereeing soccer.
