As Brad Henry once said, ¨A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instill a love in learning.¨ In my opinion, this quote could not be more true. I have always looked up to my teachers and admired what they've done. They have inspired me to become a teacher. As showed on the VA Wizard website, teachers only have a starting salary of around $35,420.00. Even though teachers don’t make that much money, I would like to pursue a career in teaching because it has always been something that I’ve wanted to do, I have already gotten experience in it, and I want to help educate others. For one of my blocks, I was in a class called Teachers For Tomorrow. In this class, we learned about different ways to do things in a classroom, what it’s like to work with different types of children, and what it felt like to actually be in charge of a lesson and a class. A big part of this class was an internship. We spent six weeks at the elementary or middle school as interns in a classroom. I was assigned to middle school, where I went to two separate classes. The first class I went to was a Math 7 class with a class of eighteen seventh graders. It was definitely an eye opener. There was such a mixture of different personalities in one classroom, that you could easily tell who wanted my help, and who did not. Some days were really rough, but there was always at least one kid a day who I felt like I had helped. The other classroom I was in was a Math 8 class with about fifteen eighth graders. These kids definitely passed my expectations though because I absolutely loved going in there every day. As soon as I walked into their room, they all wanted my help over their actual teachers. They listened to everything that I said to them, and I feel like they actually learned from me. Even though middle school is not what I really want to teach, I’m still very thankful for this
