M.A. Roberts and M.H. Abrams are two people who separately translate the epic Beowulf from the Old English, performed version. Abrams reworded more of the text to add more action and drama to the text, while Roberts reworded very little, making Abrams’s version better. Roberts’s version describes Beowulf as “the earl’s defender” (Roberts 5), which is not very impactful because he only protects the earl’s men. Abrams describes Beowulf as “the protector of warriors” (Abrams 6), suggesting that he is so powerful that he protects other warriors. Imagery is made where mighty warriors need help, and Beowulf is their savior.
The purpose for students to go through so many stages to reach their goal of becoming a teacher is to make them more informed and experienced about their career. The professional dispositions allow the students to know how to behave professionally, be ethically professional towards their students as well as colleagues, personally develop their skills as a preservice candidate, and successfully go through the all the stages to become a teacher. In my experiences from K-12, I have never considered a teacher to be unprofessional to my peers or myself. A teacher who comes to school dressed accordingly for work is considered professional.
I am currently teaching at Swainston Middle School in North Las Vegas. Our student population is very diverse, including English Language Learners (ELLs). During this time as a teacher, I have served students with different language needs. It has been my goal to engage ELL students in my lessons as every other student. It is my opinion that as teachers we are all language teachers.
Viewing students from a holistic perspective means being able to teach them from the same perspective. Knowledge regarding home life, and cultural background makes it easier to validate the ELL’s experiences and even increases the likelihood of using the knowledge of the ELL to pass on to others. A vital aspect of teaching is realizing that there is always more to learn. Stewart (2016) suggests that students need to see their teacher as a learner just like them as a form of modelling, and authenticity (p. 24). Taking advantage of the increased diversity in life experiences and perspectives is an important step in increasing learning for all members of the classroom, teachers and students alike.

I believe that each and every child is unique in their own way. Who needs a secure and caring environment in which they can grow and mature emotionally, cognitively, physically, and socially. That’s why for me it’s important to help the students meet their full potential in this areas by providing an environment that is safe and also a place where they are able to share their ideas with each other and to let them explore their curiosity because after all that’s how they learn. As a teacher I feel that we should motivate our students to become the best that they can be by incorporating in our curriculum the many theories that we have learn in this class so that we can help them achieve their full potential. It is with sincere interest that I am writing as an applicant for the online EdD in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus in Curriculum, Teaching, & Teacher Education within the School of Teaching and Learning. The following is my statement of purpose that I hope will give you a clear picture of my experiences, interests, and desires to become a doctoral student. Everything has come together for this moment in my life where I am ready to pursue my doctoral degree. My childhood dream of becoming a teacher has come to fruition, but there have been some influential events along the way that have gotten me to this point where I am ready to further my career and make a positive impact in the education field.
As a teacher I plan to be organized and consistent. With the children on this schedule, they will learn time management and consistency from me doing this. However, it is important to be a teacher because teachers are some of the people who are going to leave an impact on the students. Educators are the ones who are going to give life lessons, that in the long run, are going to teach us to be a better person. As children grow up, they will have many different teachers in their life, and one or two of them are going to make a huge difference in their life.
Reading is an essential component of learning. As educators, it is our responsibility to implement strategies, supports, and techniques that will enhance our student’s ability to learn from reading. Regardless of content area, all educators should consider themselves as reading instructors, and they should make a conscious effort to teach students how to effectively read and to also encourage the practice of reading as a lifelong skill. As an educator, I will teach students how to read effectively and develop and enjoyment for reading, by providing them with instructional strategies and techniques that will enhance their reading ability and enjoyment.
Growing up, I always knew I wanted to become a teacher. I knew it would be challenging, but rewarding with many benefits to come. But no one ever told me it can result in me getting sued. I graduated from Rutgers University in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and I was on my way to finishing up my teaching certification. The following school year I was set to start student teaching, but everything changed when the Superintendent of my old Middle School offered me position teaching math.
I myself am native speaker, and English is my second language, but if it would be me the kid who goes to school in America and everything I study at school is in english and not related to me in anyway, whether it is my language or my history then, of course I would need to learn my native language because I don’t live my homeland and this is my school now that will teach who I would be tomorrow, So yes I agree and support the school system that offers teaching kids their Native Language, because they are teaching kids who they are. I was doing observation at Minnesota Math and Science Academy “Charter School” for my other Education Class, and while I was observing their I realized that 80% of the students at the school belong to same ethnicity background, and I happen to the same question whether they teach kids their native language or
When I was a little girl I grew up sitting in the back of a classroom watching my mother teach English as a second language. She was a High School teacher in my own school. She even taught me English in 9th grade. I was an A student. My mom gave me my first B because she said, I was not participating enough in class.
I was eleven years old when I first delivered food boxes to homes in need. In that moment I had no idea I was helping people in a tremendous way. Seeing the blessings and big smiles on people’s faces made me realize what I take so much for granted every day. My dinner was a hope and wish or some children I lived not far rom. Experiencing how much you can help someone with just a box of food, had shown me so much in one day and made me want to continue to help and bless anyone and everyone I could.
Many people tend to ask me why I selected teaching and my response is simply because it gives me an opportunity to change someone’s life. Throughout much of my years there has been a constant struggle to figure out my purpose in life. Will I be remembered when I’m gone as a good person or a horrible greedy one? Truth is that teaching gives me the chance to change a life and I do not want to be striving for riches, but instead create opportunities to save lives. I love kids and seeing someone succeed due to hard work and dedication is something I have always admired and enjoyed witnessing.
Overall, I really enjoyed the opportunity to teach in a different country. It was an amazing experience to be able to teach those kids any kind of English and to see the looks on their faces when they learned an unfamiliar word. One thing I noticed while teaching was when they learned a new word, they would all say the word back to me to help store it in their brain. Even though I was only there for a couple of hours, it was amazing to see the progression of them learning unfamiliar words. This experience made me very excited to be a teacher soon.
