Ted Bundy's Crime Theodore "Ted" Bundy was born November 24, 1946, and was executed in Starke, Florida at the Florida State Prison. On January 24, 1989, around 7 a.m. that morning, he was put to death in "Old Sparky" which is Florida's most known electric chair. Bundy started his murderous rampage around 1974 and admitted to thirty-six murders, but some thought there was much more, the exact number will forever remain unknown. Ted Bundy was charged with murder in four different states, Washington, Utah, Colorado and lastly Florida. The time period that Bundy's murdering spree went from 1974 to 1979.
Theodore Robert (Ted) Bundy was a serial killer, a rapist, a kidnapper as well as a necrophiliac who was active in crime in the 1970s or even before in the United States in the United States. He was born in 1949, and he graduated from the University of Washington before later working as a campaigner and in the crime commission in Seattle. He is considered as one of the less popular serial killers in history. He is said to have begun killing individuals in 1974 (Hickey, 2016).
Ted Bundy was a serial killer, rapist and a necrophiliac and knew to have murdered at least twenty women during the 1970s and admitting killing thirty six. People to this day think he murdered around 100, He was finally arrested for good in February 1978. Bundy received three different sentencings for the murders of two Chu Omega sorority members and a 12-year-old girl in Florida. During all of that, he had somehow become a celebrity and that inspired many novels and films. Ted Bundy was born on November 24, 1946, in Burlington, Vermont.
Most reports of these missing women stated they had been seen with a good looking dark haired man named “Ted” who drove a VW Bug when they were last seen alive. The first victim identified as being murdered by Ted Bundy was on Jan. 31, 1974, in Washington. “Bundy claimed 11 victims overall in that state, one in California, two each in Oregon and Idaho, three each in Colorado and Florida, and eight in Utah” (Truesdell, Jeff. People.com).
Bundy would lure his victims into his car by manipulation and trickery. (4) Once they were in his car or near it he would hit them over the head and store them on the floorboard of his car. He would take out his passenger seat, put it in his trunk and would drive away with his victims hidden on his empty floorboard. He would murder his victims by raping them, strangling and mutilating his victims. These murders would take place between the years of 1974 and 1978. The locations of Ted Bundy’s murders were Washington, Oregon, Utah, Colorado, and Florida. Someone who was a help in his case was his most famous girlfriend, Elizabeth Kloepof. She ultimately helped catch and arrest Ted Bundy.
Eleanor tried to keep him a secret because she was not married and did not know who the father was. “Bundy was under the impression that his mother was his sister and his grandparents were his parents” (Ted). She didn’t want the fact that he didn’t have a dad to affect his life, so she lied to him. As a child he wasn’t all that bad, although he was very interested in knives at a young age. High school was the turning point for Bundy, even though nobody knows if he started killing then.
She escaped and reported him to the police (Ott). On January 12, 1975, he killed Caryn Campbell in Colorado, her body was found weeks later. In August of that year Bundy was questioned due to having suspicious items in his car but was released after that. October 2, 1975 Bundy was finally arrested after DaRonch and more victims pointed him out in the police lineup (Ott). We may can see people on the outside, but do we really know what happens behind closed doors? Well Theodore “Ted Bundy” was one of the misconcepted people. He seemed like the normal type since he grew up in a working-class family home, but he turned out to be a rapist and murderer who cut off women heads and slept with their corpses until withering made it intolerable to sleep with(crimemuseum.org). Bundy confessed to killing thirty women from the years 1974 to 1978. Most of Bundy’s victims were college students, however, he did murder as young as twelve years old. The paper began with the time frame of his killings and when his last murder took place, what states they happened in and what types of crimes that were committed, such as aggravated assault, attempt of kidnapping, and 1st degree murder. It also went further in detail by saying who investigated the cases, what people were involved specifically, the background of Bundy’s life as whole and what people believe lead him to commit such gruesome crimes, and what made him so famous. Lastly, the paper discussed whether or not the cases of these young women were solved. On February 9, he also killed a 12 year old girl named Kimberly Leach. Bundy Ted began to fight for his life, spending years appealing his death sentence. Bundy was put to death on January 24, 1989 around 7 a.m. in the Florida State Prison. Ted confessed to 36 murders. In August 1975 a police officer observed Bundy driving erratically late at night and pulled him over. His car was full of suspicious items like ski masks and duct tape but it was not enough to arrest him. The police kept him under observation after that. A month later he sold his car and the FBI went to examine it. Inside they found hair from at least three of victims and Ted was arrested.
It is stated that he had killed about 28 women in the different states; about 10 victims in the Washington, 1 in Oregon, 7 in Utah, 5 in Colorado, 2 in Idaho and 3 in Florida (Ted Bundy, n.d). One of the youngest murders he had committed was of 12 year old named Kimberly
