Think about how it would feel to lose a very close family member or a close friend. Thousands of people don’t have to think about how it feels because they feel that way almost every day. In the world, over 100,000 people die a day from diseases, cancer, accidents, suicide, and so much more. The third leading cause of death in the world is accidents. That includes work accidents, family accidents, friendly accidents, and car accidents. There are so many different ways people can get involved in car accidents such as speeding, running red lights, drunk driving, weather, flat tires, distracted driving and other ways. I am going to focus specifically on texting while driving. When one is driving, they are not supposed to put their focus on anything else other than the road. We are all taught this when we learn to drive; however, not everyone abides by every rule. Texting and driving is something people my age don't take seriously, until we witness it first-hand. After doing research for my persuasive speech, I found that 20% of people between the age of 18-21 claim that texting doesn't affect their driving, and 30% of people between the age of 22-30 claim that texting has no impact (Distracted Driving Research 2012). I know I am a part of the 20% because I still text and drive, and I believe it does not affect my driving. I changed my topic from suicide to texting and driving because I feel like the more research I do, the more I will convince myself that I shouldn't text a drive. I also believe that if I do more research, then persuading someone to not text and drive will be easier because I will have facts that would help prove
