Advertisements have developed throughout decades, Hershey's Milk Chocolate Kisses have been around since the 1920's.The production of Hershey's Kisses stalled form 1942 through 1949 due to the rationing of silver foil packaging during and immediately after World War II. Hershey's Kisses Chocolates were wrapped in green and red foils for the first time in 1962. It is evident that over the years, Hershey's have revised their advertising strategies to fit the social norms and the economic trends of the decades. Their first public piece of was of a white female child feeding a white male child Hershey Kisses. The illustration says ¨ A Kiss For You,¨ which is interpreting giving a ¨kiss,¨ hershey Kiss to ones you care about. During society this time was a time of sexism where woman were seen as less than man. Consumer purchases indulges around the holidays, providing profit for companies such as Hershey´s. In 1976 Hershey´s had an ad for Easter, which points out that when Easter baskets are made they are designed with love, which includes Hershey Kisses. This ad did not feature any humans or catchy slogans. This ad had a large paragraph and an Easter basket, shaped like an Easter Bunny, in the center of the ad. In comparison to the 1920s ad this ad, is targeted to parents of young children. This flyer has a persuasive aspect to attract customers to invest in the product. Hershey's Easter Bunny Basket ad focused on Easter baskets rather than any social happenings. They want parents to make their kids Easter baskets with love, so Hershey’s has to convince parents to use their product over any other candy
