Abortion has been a long argued issue. Everyone has their own opinions on the topic. There has even been Supreme Court cases over the issue of abortion rights. Some say women should have the right to decide if they want a child or not; others believe that life should not be taken away before it even starts. In my opinion abortion is wrong and should not be legalized.
Pregnancy is broken into three trimesters. Trimesters last about 3 months and are measured starting from the last day of a woman's menstrual cycle. Some want an abortion because they are not ready to take care of a child. Others want one because of special circumstances like rape and incest. Some women actually wanted the baby but found out that their infant has a defect or disease and could not handle it. Whatever the reason may be it is still wrong. Anytime I tell someone it should be illegal to abort a child they try to bring up reason for me to doubt my opinion. “What about rape cases?”, “What about teen pregnancies?” they say. Well I was raised that no matter what a life is a life. Everyone deserves the right to live and thrive. For special circumstances like rape cases or teen pregnancies why not put the child up for adoption. Give it a chance to live! I know that everyone says why put a child through foster care or child services. Putting a child into foster care or child services is better than not giving the child a chance at all. Yes, the foster system and CPS are not perfect, but they give children a chance at live and prosperity. Everyone has the potential to be something amazing and awe inspiring. We just need to be given the chance and put in the effort. In the case of rape, it is an awful and disgusting thing no one should have to go through. When a child is the product of a rape most people choose to abort the baby, for fear it will be a reminder of what happened. Why punish an innocent living organism for something that was not it’s fault? If women who get sexually assaulted do not want their infant they should give it up. You never know that baby could grow up to find the cure for cancer, or be the first person to find a new species. The possibilities of our lives are endless. I know it sounds harsh but, in the case of teen pregnancy that is not rape the teen should be responsible. As my mother always says if you want to have the fun you have to be ready to handle the consequences afterwards. My mother even tells me if I get pregnant
