The American education system over the past 20 years has grown and evolved from what was offered through the government. In the film we have seen the changes of waiting for ‘Superman’; the film dives into children living in underprivileged areas and attending the same schools within that area. The question that accrues to individuals is if the American education system is behind compared to other countries ?
To begin, The American Public school system correlating to the documentary ‘Waiting for Superman’ , portrays that children in lower income areas and homes have a higher chance of falling behind with simple education. For our first example of a South Asian country of Japan, Japan as a whole has a very distinguished and trained culture.

This question is not only harder to group together by country but it depends on the district itself. In the United states there is a vivid demographic that owns a certain amount of privileged and higher income institutes. Whereas, in Japan from the article ‘ Japan Might Be What Equality In Education Looks Like’. In Japanese schools, in lower income areas in comparison to the movie ‘Waiting For SuperMan’, the lower income schools tend to have uneducated staff and educators. Funding within districts needs to increase in lower income schools. From the article ‘5 ways Policy Makers Can Improve the Quality of Education’, discusses that it will be important to charge more to the United States. “ The States contribute 44% of total education funding in the United states”. This amount is not as much as it should be for lower income areas. There also needs to be a raise for teachers. “ Underqualified teachers are tied to poor outcomes for students.” This statement is true for the United states that there are some under-qualifying opportunities for professionals within the district.For Japan there can be an increase, that they are actively working on implementing technology of today and understanding the world around.
