When I was a freshman, I joined SALSA, which was one of the best decisions I have ever made. SALSA has allowed me to build strong relationships, connect with people in my community, and expand my horizons in ways I previously thought impossible. Being someone who is passionate about creating a positive impact in society, I would be proud to serve on the SALSA Youth Action Council. I believe that young people have a unique perspective that can bring positive change, and I am excited to be a part of this mission. Through my involvement in various community service projects and leadership roles, I have gained valuable skills in communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.
October 2016 I obtain my bachelors degree in business administration. While I was in school, I wanted to continue to work with the youth in the community. So my sister and I created a dance team that is consist of girl ages 6-18. Our dance team is located in Lake City. Dance is an activity that allow the girls to express themselves through
Moving throw places looking for a better tomorrow, I found myself in San Francisco, a prospering and innovative city located in Northern California. A city of multicultural neighborhoods and diverse populations. The home of Europeans, Asians, South Americans and Hispanics; where you could be whomever you wish to be, due to the lack of a principal or dominant subculture. Alienation is not an option in San Francisco; the city gives you the privilege to choose the way you would like to look at things, supporting your decision with a community or a group of like-minded people that share common distinguishing characteristics; giving you the sense of belonging.
In my town, Scarsdale, NY never really provides a way to experience diversity. It's a monocultural town which consist of predominately white-jewish kids. This makes me cherish the opportunities that I do have to meet new different people, and experience other cultures. This is one of the main reasons I want to switch coasts of the US. The fact that there is such a cultural discrepancy between the east coast and the west coast is something that is really exciting to me.
Since 2005, Lynn has been living and working on the west coast, where twice yearly, she travels to New York City to to direct “Simonson Method of Teacher Training” for Dance New Amsterdam. Performance wasn’t enough to sustain basic living requirements so I began teaching as a way of supplementing that financial necessity.” Finance was a struggle through his dance career due to the poor wages. Pursuing dance to work in a city that has a small community for dance, made him struggle.
Call them free-spirited or spontaneous, one thing that I’ve learned about dancers, is that in general they are not particularly partial to organization and sticking to schedules. Don’t get me wrong, my peers in the pre-professional dance company I travel with exude talent and are generally professional, but when they are together they are together that passion undergoes a synergistic reaction resulting into chaos. Every time we attempt to form a conscious on a decision, I’m swiftly reminded why direct democracy is not a thing in America. Consequently, I was a bit apprehensive last year when I was one of the dancers put in charge of choreographing our goodbye dance to that year’s graduating seniors; a job that entitled wrangling all fifty-sixty
As mentioned I 've been exposed to diversity from a young age. I 've moved with family across Canada twice, from poverty stricken to affluent areas. From towns where you could leave doors unlocked to city blocks where gunshots a few streets over are your lullyby. Family still live outside the Oka reserve in Quebec and I 've French-Canadian relatives in New Brunswick. While through my friends, neighbors, family and the people I 've worked with I 've had interactions with people from all around the world, from different educational and cultural backgrounds, social standings, religious and sexual orientations.

Along with copious amounts of dance practice, the American ballerina would usually take on other side jobs to pay for living expenses in addition to the cost of dance attire. However in Europe, the vocation as a ballet dancer was highly respected and rewarded. Many western countries had national sponsored ballet theater where its artists were well paid and “honored for their services exactly as though they were civil servants ” (Maynard, 1959, p. 43). Ballet might look graceful and effortless on stage, but it required a lot of work in terms of perseverance and physically on the body.
THE QUESTIONABLE SPOT The time will come when you will probably be invited to a place that you 're not sure you ought to visit. Perhaps your friends want to go to that roadhouse that has always looked dangerously intriguing. Maybe they want to go to a public dance hall of which your parents disapprove. What should you do?
I saw how much enjoyment dance brought to people, and I knew that this would be something that I would want to continue to do. I want to continue to dance but I also want to help people and prevent them from getting very sick or hurt in the first place. My family friends as well as the people I have danced for are individuals who might not have received the best care and I want to fix that for them.
