Sooy says that these four principles show what worship should be and what it should not be. The focus of worship is understood as that there is something, or Someone, beyond himself, and is searching for meaning which can only be accomplished when man’s spirit is united to the Creator. The faith of worship comes from Abraham and how he had faith in God’s words and promises, and just as he did we can do the same. In the form of worship Sooy breaks it down into four forms. First worship’s form or pattern is physical and active. Once you discover your gift and serve Him you will be satisfied with your role because each role is significant and important. While God’s gifts are given to you God will not direct you and guide you into discovering them or serving with them. “We hold a certain responsibility for developing and exercising our gifts as God intended.” We are not to use these gifts for our own personal gain nor for other selfish reasons, but for the service of God. It is also possible for us to enhance our gifts from God. Sooy explains five ways that can help enhance our gifts from God. The first step in enhancing our gifts is to be aware of our gifts. The second step is to be able to understand our gifts. An example that Sooy uses is that we are all part of a puzzle and our specific gift is the only one to fit into its spot and if we do not work with or understand other’s gifts the puzzle will not connect. Thirdly, we must study God’s words. This comes from daily readings and studying of the bible. Fourth we must know that our gifts require us to serve. When using our gifts to serve it helps us to discover our gifts, but also to allow our gifts to become refined. Sooy puts a major stress on this step by saying, “I cannot
