Thankfully my pocket watch fell from my coat pocket making me realized it was half past the hour. I was late. Suddenly, I ran out the door and hoisted my saddle on my chestnut stallion named Ray. He bucked for it seemed like he was wondering why I was in such a hurry. I raised myself onto Ray. He started to walk, but I was in too much of a hurry to settle for a lazy stallion. I gave him a little kick in the backside. Ray gave me an angered neigh, and started to run. After hours of him running I held on tighter as he came to a sudden stop. I decided that it would not hurt to rest for a minute. I tied his reins onto an old pine tree; I started to notice that I recognize these woods. I opened my mouth to let a star shaped snow flake enter. The small snow flake was bitter and cold. My little sister was running around making several snow angels. With each one leaving here small hand prints as she got up. I knew Mr. Finnegan would not see us stopping here to watch the snow fill up in his woods. It was the darkest evening of the year. Ray must have thought it queer to come here on such a dark evening. With the darkness and snow came frozen lakes, and cold wind. We played out there for a while, then hopped onto Ray. He trotted for home. We kept hearing howling and leaves and branches breaking. I heard the patter of paws on the forest floors. My sister started to cry; asking if we were going to be okay. As calmly as I could I told her “Of course we are.” After I let out the last syllable. A wolf caught up to Ray latching onto his back leg. My sister started to cry, but I grabbed as many rocks as I could and chucked them at the wolf. One of the rocks hit the wolf’s eye. It ran off whimpering.
