Grand Valley State University Is not the first college that I have attended. I have been enrolled at Central Texas College (CTC) and the University Of Maryland, College Park (UMUC) and Grand Rapids Community College. Although CTC and UMUC course where taken online, they all share a common discipline factor. The School is very strict on Academic Integrity.
What is considered an academic integrity violation at GVSU? “ This definition includes, but is not limited to, fabrication, falsification, cheating, and plagiarism (Student Code).”A violation that helps show a person true colors in the academic world. This question can be applied to a lot of aspect of life. But in this situation is very important not to cheat. When you cheat you are saying that you are not good enough to figure out the answer. You have given up on your self and allowed your self to take a gamble. If you cheat you put your self in a certain situation that could end very badly. Constantly rolling the dice and destroying your moral ethics that you have. If a person is caught cheating they lose something that is hard to get back, that is trust. When you lose a person trust they also lose their belief that they have in you. No matter how hard you work or do the right thing after you are caught cheating. A label will always be hanging over your head “Cheater.” When it comes down to it, it is very hard to lose that label. If you are trying to lose that label, you have to try to be the best at all times. The amount of energy and effort you will put into getting that label off. Would be way less than just opening a book or finding the answer your self. What also goes along with this is helping other’s to cheat. If you are helping then you are just as guilty as the person that is cheating. “Cheating no longer carries the stigma that it used to. Less social disapproval coupled with increased competition for admission into universities and graduate schools has made students more willing to do whatever it takes to get the A (David L Jaffe)” Cheating also effects the students that are doing the right thing. Cheating affects everyone around you “Students who cheat often feel justified in what they are doing. They cheat because they see others cheat and they think they will be unfairly disadvantaged. The cheaters are getting 100 on the exam, while the non-cheaters may only get 90's (David L Jaffe).” I Trevor Patrick Murphy do promise Professor McCann that I will not cheat in college.
