“Romeo and Juliet” is a play written by William Shakespeare about two lovers who face struggles to be together due to a feud between their families. During the play, Romeo and Juliet did not have the ideal friendship with their parents. The lack of support from their parents influences their interactions with them. Juliet did not have the best friendship with her parents. She was very obedient as to follow some of the directions of her parents, but she did not trust them. For example, even though she did not plan on getting married, she told her mom she would look at Paris (1.3). Nevertheless, Juliet never really told her mom who she actually was in love with. At the beginning of the play, when Romeo was depressed because of Rosaline’s refusal, his parents worry about him; however, they cannot make Romeo reveal what is causing his depression (1.1). That informs us of two things, one, that they care about their son, and two, that they do not have a trustworthy friendship. Also, towards the end of the story, we learn that Romeo’s mother was greatly impacted because of his expulsion, she was so shocked, she died (5.3). In addition, when Romeo and Juliet marry, they choose to marry in private, demonstrating that they do not think their parents will accept that decision (2.4). Also signifying that that choice will have consequences because it was not approved by their parents. Romeo has an impulsive personality. This is seen when Romeo heard that Juliet was dead he did not wait receive all the necessary information, so he took quick action and committed suicide. Also, the fact that Romeo killed himself because of the death of his wife, demonstrates Juliet’s death caused him a lot of distress. We can also see a change in his depression type. At first when Rosaline, he was just depressed, but with Juliet he was willing to commit suicide and did it (1.1).
