World War I was the beginning of a new era because it was a different type of war that lead to many casualties that left the world shocked. The central powers being Germany, Austria, Bulgaria, and the Ottoman Empire went up against the Allied Powers being Britain, France, Russia, Italy, Romania, Japan, and the US. World War I brought an introduction upon many new weapons and other resources used by everyone. It was a time of industrialization and imperialism where everyone fought for unnecessary reasons. The WWI was supposed to end in peace, but ended up in another distraught time known as WWII. The treaty made Germany lose their territory, caused economic problems, and it created German resentment towards everyone. They’d take over Germany’s territory and they’d give it to other countries such as Poland and France. All of Germany’s overseas colonies were given to the Allies as well. They also weakened Germany’s transportation and put their river system under foreign control. On top of that, Germany wasn’t allowed to have many things such as tanks and an Air Force. Most importantly, the Treaty of Versailles blamed Germany for World War I and made them responsible for the cost of it. The treaty’s main goal was to make Germany as weak as it can be and make them at peace with the Allied powers but the peace didn’t last very long. Due to them making Germany weak, Germany was very angry among this and they viewed the treaty as a vicious thing. The resentment Germany had led to Hitler capitalizing it to get support from others which soon led to WWII. The economic problems that the treaty had on Germany were bad because everything Germany was dependent on was taken away by the treaty. Germany had a strong system of trade, it was one of the largest source of supply to Russia and Britain, and with bad exportation they couldn’t export many goods which harmed their economy. Adolf Hitler believed that he could make Germany strong again through Fascism. Hitler created the Nazi Party in 1919 and supporters grew steadily for him. Hitler capitalized on the German resentment against the Treaty of Versailles and he had seen how they made Germany really weak. Hitler easily recruited many things Germany had before they were weakened such as the middle class. The German people started working for Hitler because they had other jobs, and they owed him for what he was doing. The German people had faith in Hitler to get rid of the Versailles and soon Hitler had become Chancellor of Germany. Hitler was working so that he could fix the problems the Treaty of Versailles had created, mainly the economic problems. Hitler wanted to make Germany powerful economically, military, and wanted to unite the German people once again. Hitler tried restoring the military power Germany once had by restoring the enlistment and expansion of the German army. He also created the naval pact with Britain which allowed the strength of the naval Germans to be expanded. To keep the army strong, Hitler then ordered the Rhineland to be re-militarized. He worked to get back German territory, resources, and industry. Most importantly, he invaded Poland to get back the Polish Corridor. Hitler believed in a political system which is Fascism.
