The Civil War was a battle of great importance to our history of the United States. On April 12th, 1861 this battle broke out between the Union States, North, and the Confederate States, such as the South. The Civil War took place all throughout the United states, and did not come to an end until the Union won the war on May 9, 1856. So, our question of “What caused the Civil War”, comes with three important answers. The three main causes of the Civil War between the North and the South were Economic, Social, and Political differences.
.The Civil War changed the country in many ways. Thousands of men on both sides died during the Civil War. “The Union Army lost 352, 528 men and the Confederate Army lost 258,000 men” (Doc F). Innovative ways to fight came about during the Civil War.
Uncompromising differences between the South (Confederacy) and the North (Union) created a civil war that lasted five years. During this war, Abraham Lincoln was president. His election led to the secession of many Southern states. After refusing to recognize the Confederacy as its own nation, the American Civil War commenced in 1861. The three main causes of the Civil War between the North and the South were industrial and agricultural economies, politics, and slavery.
April 12, 1861. Confederate forces fired shots at the fort Sumpter and Union troops surrendered sparking the Civil War. Though, how did it come to this? As one can see, evidence shows the primary cause of the Civil War was slavery because of the many more slaves than free blacks, the Kansas-Nebraska Act of 1854 fought over slave or free states, and Dred Scott fought for his freedom from slavery.
The civil war began in the year of 1861, many historians have established theories for the main cause. Four of the possible theories include, morality and views on slavery, two societies, failure to compromise, states rights and Lincoln's election. Although all of these play a big role in the causes of the civil war, I believe the principle cause of the civil war was, the existence of two societies in the United States beacuse the South wanted to become more independent, had multiple uprisings due to slavery, and had differnt oppions on slavery. America was split into the North and the South, both very diverse. Some might say that the North was very independent and the south was very dependent on the north.
The siege at Fort Sumter was the event that started the civil war. The siege took place in South Carolina, which was one of the first states that seceded from the US. Fort sumter was an American fort. The whole thing started when the fort began running out of food and supplies so President Abraham Lincoln sent a message telling South Carolina that they were sending in food, and no weapons of any sort. However, South Carolina started getting annoyed that America still had a fort there even though they had succeeded..
How the Civil War Came to Be Was the Civil War very “civil” at all? The Civil War had many factors that led into it but there was one major factor that started the war. Slavery was one of the biggest factors in the Civil War. There was a big issue that divided the North and South which was slavery. The wide spread of slavery was a big deal to most Americans; but some were not the biggest fans of the concept.

On November 6, 1860 Lincoln won the presidential election and not one person in the South voted for him. Lot’s of states talked of secession after Lincoln became president and the election was one on the primary reasons the Civil war Happened. The Civil war basically started when the South did not let the confederates restock Fort Sumter after Lincoln told them to, there was a 34 hour battle until finally the federal defenders had to surrender. During the war Lincoln had trouble finding good generals for his armies.

The south felt that the slave industry was beneficial to their economy and lifestyle. While the North did not necessary fight for slavery but for the union reunite again despite their differences. In the beginning of the war, many believed that slavery would be easy to abolished. That was not the case, due to the South reliability to use of slaves in their lives.
More people have read books about the Civil War than any other part of American history put together. The Civil War started on April 12th, 1861 and ended April 9th, 1865. The war started because the South seceded from the North because they didn't agree about slavery. The North though slavery was wrong because they believed all man is created equal. The South believed that African Americans were different and should be treated like property.
