That’s exactly what Sanger Rainsford had to do. Although Sanger Rainsford had to survive hours of being hunted, in the end, he triumphed and killed the blood-thirsty hunter. The original story of “The Most Dangerous Game” was first published in 1924. The story was inspired by the big-game hunting on safaris in Africa and South America. In the beginning of the short story Rainsford and Whitney are sailing past Ship-Trap Island on their way to the Caribbean to hunt jaguars. Just like the short story the movie creates suspense as people get hurt. Like when Quinn got shot at by the Baron and when Mary gets caught in a bear trap. Then Ben and Ivan explode, from the grenade that Ben set off. Later the Baron shoots Sanger, but it grazes his shoulder. Also, in the movie the Baron shows his true colors, he’s a violent bloodthirsty maniac. Then the Baron states, “Rainford’s head will find my wall” (Lee). Those are some comparisons between the short story and the movie’s
