This quote shows that the letter hasn’t reached Romeo and the plan has failed. There is a quote that shows that Friar Lawrence has failed to deliver the letter to Romeo. Friar realizes his mistake and sees how much it affects the plan. Friar says that the “Failure too deliver it, could do much damage”(Shakespeare V.II.20). Quote shows Friar has made a mistake, even Friar Lawrence himself realizes, that’s why he is to blame for their death.
What the Friar doesn’t take into account is that the plan will have to be executed flawlessly to ensure that no one will be killed. In the end of the play Romeo ends up dead because the letter telling Romeo about the staging of Juliet’s death isn’t delivered on time.
Throughout the play "Romeo and Juliet," Friar Laurence is seen as a sympathetic character who tries to help the young couple. However, his actions and decisions ultimately lead to their tragic demise. The Friar's misguided advice and reckless behavior are the primary reasons why Romeo and Juliet died. Firstly, Friar Laurence should never have agreed to marry Romeo and Juliet in secret.
His intention was "To turn your households rancor to pure love," without informing their parents(2.3.97-99). Although this secretive alliance made Romeo and Juliet feel better, it also caused many impediments imperfection Friar Laurence's plans. Where these impediments stopped them from getting outside help, which was direly needed in Romeo and Juliet's case. Friar Laurence also failed his plan by trusting Friar John and not himself, as Friar John was "In this city visiting the
Romeo and Juliet had many events leading up to their deaths. Other than events, people are to blame for the deaths of many. Three suspects would be Friar Laurence, Lord Capulet, and Romeo. Each of them have at least one thing for the cause, and the effect was death. If you looked closely one of them had the most impact.
Friar Laurence then is told Romeo dint get the letter and decided to go to the tomb. When he arrived Romeo and Paris were dead. After Juliet killed herself Friar Laurence explained that he went through with all this admitting that he did it to get the families to stop
Friar Laurence tells his plan to Juliet, but he never gets to speak to Romeo in person because Romeo is banished from Verona and now resides in Mantua. Friar Laurence then writes a letter, which Friar John is expected to deliver to Romeo. When Balthasar, Romeo’s dedicated servant, comes upon the news of Juliet, he immediately goes to Romeo saying, “Her body sleeps in Capel’s monument.” (5.1, 18). Friar Laurence did not communicate with Friar John before the continuation of his plan--sedating Juliet.
Once the scheme gets too big and Romeo is banished from Verona, the Friar proposed a plan that will eventually resulted in the death of the lovers. The Friar decided to write to Romeo instead of going to Romeo himself or alerting Balthasar of the situation. Had he done that, the situation would have not gotten out of hand like it did.
Clearly, the Friar did not inform Friar John of the importance of the letter. If he had told him lives were at stake, Friar John would have stopped at nothing to deliver the message. Lastly, the Friar failed to communicate to Romeo in the manner they had agreed upon. Before Romeo leaves, the Friar tells him, “Sojourn in Mantua. I’ll find
In the play “The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare, two lovers by the name Romeo and Juliet fall in love and get married in secret even though they are from rival families and end up tragically dying. Romeo and Juliet died because they would rather be dead than live a life without each other but someone has to be at fault. Although many characters play a part in their death the main culprit is Friar Laurence. Firstly, Friar Laurence is responsible for Romeo and Juliet’s death because he married them.
Who is to Blame for the Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet? Scholars inquire about this topic time and time again, who was to blame for the death of Romeo and Juliet in William Shakespeare's famous work, Romeo and Juliet? The death of these two star-crossed lovers was the result of many reckless and thoughtless behaviours of both the Capulet and Montague households. The Capulet and Montague households are to blame for this tragedy that is Romeo and Juliet’s demise. The Capulet and Montague houses continued the feud that started this tragedy, Tybalt thoughtlessly fought the Montagues because Romeo attended the Capulet party, Lord Capulet’s crass decision to wed Juliet to Paris regardless of Juliet’s opinions.
First of all, the Friar was very hasty in secretly marrying Romeo and Juliet so soon. As stated in line 94-95 on page 52, “For this alliance may so happy prove To turn your household’s rancour to pure love.” The Friar’s goal was to stop the fighting between the two families. Although this was his goal, he did not consider that marrying Romeo and Juliet in secret would not change anything since the families did not even know about their love. The Friar also did not know for certain if Romeo’s love for Juliet would turn out like Rosaline, and if Romeo stopped loving Juliet after they were married, more complications would occur.
He then killed himself, because he was unaware of the Friar's plan. Romeo’s death is Friar Laurence's fault. After Romeo killed himself, Juliet wakes up to find the Friar alive and her beloved dead. While the Friar tried leaving, Juliet kills herself. Her death was also his
He does not put much thought into this plan, much like he did not think through marrying Romeo and Juliet. When Juliet comes to Friar, distraught about having to marry Paris, Friar tells her “A thing death to chide away this shame/if thou darest, I’ll give thee remedy”(IV, i 74-76). While giving Juliet the option to pretend to die, he is not thinking about the potential consequences for Juliet and himself. Friar does not think of how this will affect those in Juliet’s family either, or what they will do if Romeo does not receive his letter. The whole plan is put together too quickly and not thought out enough.
In my opinion I think that the feud between the two main families, the Capulets and the Montagues, is the most responsible for Romeo and Juliet’s death. The conflict between these two families is so distasteful that it causes Romeo and Juliet even more of a struggle as they try to find and keep their love. This conflict between the Capulets and the Montagues has been going on for a very long time and neither side is willing to make up for whatever may have happened in the past. Because of this a strong dislike is portrayed when someone sees a person from the opposite side. If the family feud wouldn’t have existed Romeo and Juliet would not have any large reason to hide their relationship.
