World War II (WWII) was the most destructive and expensive wars of all time. The war ended with more than 60 million casualties and one trillion dollars spent. World War II was a six year war that went from 1939 to 1945 that included the fall of Nazi Germany and the Japaneses Empire. The United States (U.S.) became involved in the war in four days when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7,1941 because the U.S. was the only thing holding them back from having their dream empire which included all of Asia and controlling the Pacific. The U.S. controlled most of Pacific at the time so Japan knew they had to either give up or hit the U.S. so hard they would not be able to get back on their feet and fight back. But the gamble did not pay off
