The most specific features of this building are the columns. One of the first people to use columns, the Greeks used such distinct features on their monuments, such as the Parthenon. Yet another celebrated art form is perhaps one of the most famous pieces of ancient Greek art. At this time there was the reconciliation of the North and South, and freedom for the black which were shown in the murals done by Jules Guerin. The Parthenon corresponds to its period because it shows the Greek’s struggle against the Persians. It is shown in the myths, which outlines human suffering for Greek victory. It is seen in the shield of Athena, which shows the battle between Athenians and Amazons. The Parthenon was built in great detail depicting event that lead to Greek victory.
Moreover, the foundations of Western science and mathematics can be traced all the way back to the ancient Greeks. Men like Euclid and Pythagoras made the contribution towards to the western civilization through their work of mathematics: geometry (Document 7). The arts reflect the society that creates them, this was very true with the ancient Greeks through their temples, sculptures, and pottery. Ancient Greek art emphasized the importance and accomplishments of human beings. An example of ancient Greek architecture is the Parthenon which is a marvel of design, featuring massive columns contrasting with subtle details (Doc:7). Greek architecture influenced many buildings that our World has today. In ancient Greece art was expressed many ways but one of them by sculptures of people, such as Myron’s famous sculpture of the Discus Thrower.

Archeologist study remains with a goal to better understand the past and to improve the future with education. Scholars are able to produce multiple interpretations of the purpose of creation using the remains of structures, literature and estelle dating. Specifically, in the article “The Ancient Temple on the Acropolis at Athens” by Gloria Ferrari encompasses various theories regarding the function and reconstruction of the ancient temple of Athena. Dinsmoor believed the structure was built to “resist intrusions that would threaten their very foundation” For instance, Dismoor supported his argument by drawing attention to the repair work on the foundation that happened after the Persian sack.
In this paper, I will compare and discuss the authentic, Athenian Monument that came about after the war at Marathon and the East Tennessee Veterans Memorial that is located in World’s Fair Park. The Athenian Monument, which was set up in honor of the war dead in ancient Athens, is a single slab of white marble and is comprised of a tribe name (Erechtheis), a four-line short poem, and a casualty list of twenty-two names. The name of the tribe is located at the top of the stone, while the epigram is right below it. The rest of the space is taken up by the twenty-two names, which are lined up in a checkerboard style, alternately indented and spaced out. The East Tennessee Veterans Memorial Monument, which was created more recently right here in Knoxville, is comprised of thirty-two granite towers and a large bell tower in the middle that was taller than me.

The design of the Parthenon was reflection of the then current Grecian Empire. According to Silverman (n.d.), “the Parthenon represents the tangible and visible efflorescence of Athenian imperial power. It symbolizes the power and influence of the Athenian politician, Perikles, who championed its construction”. The style and function of the building being a reflection of the culture is reflected in the Orders of the design.
Ancient architecture preserves history Two historical monuments with extraordinary architectural stories are rare to find still standing to this day. The Parthenon and the Great Pyramids of Giza are perhaps two of the most magnificent pieces of architecture the world has ever seen. In order to creates a better understanding of the importance of the two ancient structures the differences and similarities of the Parthenon and the pyramids constructions, functions along with relevance both then and now must be explored. The Parthenon and The Great Pyramids of Giza both share some similarities about the creation process behind them as well as some differences.
Introduction: The Two Buildings; Parthenon in Athens and Pantheon in Rome are both classical heritage of the former world powers. Both buildings were temple built and dedicated to the gods of Athens and Romans. The excellent strength and the durability of these temples are unimaginable. Going by the length of time that these buildings have been in existence, one cannot but admires the brilliance of the ancient Greek and Roman architects for such excellent edifices that have outlived many generations, and yet remain a symbol of ancient Greek and Roman history.
This essay will be focused on the cultural use, differences and similarities of Greek and Roman architecture with special focus on Parthenon in Athens and the Pantheon in Rome Italy. Both buildings have various similarities; I will focus on how each country adapts to their differences. It is important to note that five (5) architectural orders were highly favored in the Greek and Roman architectural pattern. The Parthenon and Pantheon are both ancient temples, while the Parthenon was built in Ancient Greece for the goddess of Athena as a gratitude to heaven for the defeat of Persia; the pantheon was built in Rome to celebrate the Roman gods. Although they may be extremely different, both The Pantheon and The Parthenon have a great effect on Greek and Roman Architecture. Not only in the matter of shape and material but also purpose. The pantheon was built in Rome by “The Emperor Hadrian” in 126 AD on the same ground as an older Pantheon. (Ranogajec, 2015) The Parthenon was built in the Acropolis of Athens by “Icarus” and “Callicrates” in 438 BC.
The Parthenon and the Altes Museum have been significantly important architectural buildings throughout this whole period of time. The Parthenon was built between 447 and 438 B.C in the Acropolis of Athens in Greece, by Iktinos and Kallikrates. It represents the culmination of classical Greek architecture and its search for perfection. The greatest German neoclassical architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel (1781-1841) designed the Altes Museum in Berlin, which was opened in 1830. In his design, Schinkel linked architectural motifs from Greek and Roman antiquity and incorporated them into the museum.
The Parthenon in Athens and the Pantheon in Rome depict the splendor of these two cultures. Starting with the Parthenon, it was completely constructed in 432 B.C.E by the architects Iktinos and Kallikrates to honor the Athen’s patron deity, Athena, and to house her statue. It is rectangular and consisted of a series of Doric columns. However, it is a mixture of the Doric and Ionic orders. The Pentelic marble, bronze, gold, and ivory are the basic media used in this construction.
