There have been 700 instances since 1973 of women arrested, detained, or subjected to forced medical interventions because of issues related to their pregnancies. There is a lot of controversy whether it is or is not okay for women to have abortions. Men and women around the world and country are divided in two decisions; pro-life (against the idea of abortions) and pro-choice (women have a choice). Because abortion is heavily influenced, classified as murder, and women lack support, abortions should not be an option. Abortions are influenced by the decisions of others. John Ingram states, “Abortions were preceded by the 1960’s introduction of the birth control pill and women’s liberation movement.” Abortions were supported because of birth control and women were tired of being a houseworker, marrying and starting a family early, which they were protesting for freedom. Also,a poll by the Pew Research Center found, “White evangelical protestants are the only religious group in which a majority--54 percent--favors overturning the decision (Roe v. Wade). Roe v. According to a poll made by the Pew Research Center found that 21% of women in America say they are not ready for a responsibility. The shows that women who conceive a child aren’t prepared or don’t want a baby to interfere with work or school. Even though women may not be ready, a fetus is a human being and has a right to life. According to Ruth Graham, “The idea that a fetus is on a continuum, becoming gradually more “person-like” as it progresses from a cluster of cells to a viable entity to a newborn, has made a certain intuitive sense to most human beings throughout history.” A fetus is a human that is constantly moving and changing within the mother’s womb. Altogether, abortions are carried out because of the lack of readiness but within the womb, the baby is constantly moving and growing into a human
