According to a study conducted by the Human Society International in 2015, “Over 115 million animals – mice, rats, dogs, cats, rabbits, monkeys, birds, among others – are killed in laboratory experiments worldwide for chemical, drug, food, and cosmetics testing every year” (“About Animal Testing”). Our society is full of violence and brutality, but while humans are able to have rights, to defend ourselves, and to ask for help, animals do not have such choices. Cruelty to animal is an act of violence or neglect committed against animals by humans, regardless of whether the act is against the law. Animal abuse can take many different forms, such as abandonment, scientific research, and mistreatment. Besides, animal cruelty also includes animal neglect of the failure to provide for the well-being of an animal. Animal abuse is an important issue that has to be dealt with across the country, because it is a major cause that is causing millions of animals to get injured and killed. Although many people may not notice how animals are being treated, animal cruelty is actually a growing issue in our world today and needs to be stopped. Above all, animal abuse should be discontinued, because these creatures do not deserve to be hurt or mistreated. They are just the same as humans, they are as important as us, and they feel as much pain as we do.
