Although an elusive concept, the Marine Corps uses many avenues to instill leadership in Marines such as leadership acronyms, leadership traits, the commandant’s professional reading list (CPRL), and professional military education. The CPRL, in particular, offers Marine officers a wide range of reference material to help shape and grow their leadership abilities. The following books from the CPRL stand out as the most influ-ential to my growth as a leader: Lincoln on Leadership, The Five Dysfunctions of a Team, and Good to Great. I would like to be a part of the S.T.E.P program to learn how I can increase my job knowledge, increase my productivity, and to influence the performance of my colleagues that are in need of guidance. I believe focusing on leadership skills and management fundamentals will help me become more effective and efficient in my current role as a Military Admission Representative. A person that who I know that shows ethical leadership in the charge nurse at my work. Jean this nurse that I work with demonstrates good leadership by incorporating the “participative style at work, which places emphasis on both the task and social dimensions of groups” (Rothwell 304). At my work we all tend to work in groups in order to get tasks done and Jean is our manager. Jean is very good at being the leader because she allows all of our group members to participate and she has positive relationships with us all. Therefore, the participative style of leadership that Jean portrays works very well for our entire group.
Leadership Thought Prior to 1900 The earliest study of leadership thought would be the “Great Man Theory. This theory conceptualized leaders as a single “Great Man” who knew everything and influenced others to follow him. In leadership discourse, the Great Man theory—an assertion that certain individuals, certain men, are gifts from God placed on earth to provide the lightening needed to uplift human existence—is associated mainly with Thomas Carlyle (Spector, 2015, p.250). The focal-point of this theory is that leaders’ skills are inherent and set that them apart from those around them and that these traits enable them to assume roles of power and authority.

TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP Transformational Leadership is defined as leadership style focused on effecting revolutionary change in organizations through a commitment to the organization’s vision. (Sullivan & Decker, 2001) Transformational leaders are usually given higher position and are known for their charismatic sense and ability to develop high visions and regards in the work they do. They often give their best performances due to the low morale or self esteem Example: Steve Job, Bill Gates and Ratan Tata. The study of group dynamics provides a vehicle to analyse group communications with the intent of rendering the groups more effective (Davies & Newstrom, 1985) (La Monica, 1985). In the next section, this essay will be focused on the relationships and interactions between leadership behaviour and group dynamics. 2.0 BODY OF ANALYSIS There are many leadership behaviour that affects the employee effectiveness, commitment and group dynamics. According to (Folkman, Z., 2010) they have identified the nine behaviours that will have the greatest impact on employee: inspire and motivate others, driving for results, strategic perspective, collaboration, walk the talk, trust, develops and supports others, building relationships and courage.

What does it mean to take a distributed perspective? Distributed leadership is one form of leadership. It highlights leadership as an emergent property of a group networking of interacting individuals. The concept of distributed leadership has swept through the theory and practice of educational leadership. It has become the theory of choice for many (Lumby, 2013).
Although the term groupthink was first coined by William H. Whyte in an article published in Fortune Magazine (Whyte, 1952), it was the social psychologist Irving Janis who developed the concept and did much of the initial research on this field. In a foundational article from 1971 he defined groupthink as “a quick and easy way to refer to the mode of thinking that persons engage in when concurrence-seeking becomes so dominant in a cohesive ingroup that it tends to override realistic appraisal of alternative courses of action” (Janis, 1971, 43). Team members need to envision and conceptualize the goal. Leaders must openly acknowledge team differences and attempt to work around them. Leaders must establish a clear direction for the team at the beginning phase of a project. Additionally, make structural changes, set group norms early, build trust, and increase cohesiveness to hold the team together by a common goal.
The amount of group projects I have been givin in school is to many to count. Most people like it when a teacher gives group work; I, do not. One reason is that some people leech off other people by doing little work. Another reason could be that people could be distracted by who there working with.
Introduction Group decision-making is known as a type of participatory processes, in which multiple individuals collectively act, analyse problems and evaluate solutions. In Medium Size Enterprise (MEs) of UK, this process is needed, as the revenues are less from £20M to £30M per year. Group decision-making process may change the substantial contribution of the institution to the national employment and economy by raising profitability. Considering the importance of this process, effectiveness of group-based choice procedure is not ignorable.
