There are many different current events surrounding gun control, such as criminals people being able to own guns. Gun control should not be a topic up for discussion because the Constitution protects the rights of all citizens to own guns within reason. Gun control right now is set to where people that are criminals can not own guns, you have to register all guns purchased, and there is a minimum number set for number of rounds you can have in the clip at a time. The government needs to keep gun control at what it is right now because if they change it, it is imposing on the second amendment if they try to prevent people from owning guns, and does not deter criminals or prevent mass shootings. This connects to the argument because it shows that the government can not take away the people's gun rights. The government is continuously trying to get the courts to pass a stricter gun control law but it continues to get shot down because most people disapprove of more gun control. Therefore, because of the second amendment the government is having a hard time trying to get gun control laws to pass. Even with gun control the government still can not stop criminals from getting guns or doing things against the law such as mass shootings. With gun control the government also can not lower the number of suicides every year, “With gun control it will only prevent the good guys from getting guns because most criminals buy their guns off of black markets or illegally”(Gun Control & Gun Rights). Since criminals do not get their guns legally, it will not stop them from committing crimes such as mass shootings.
