Guns, in many people 's minds, are a very dangerous weapon and a threat, so that 's why gun laws are enforced. In 2017 gun laws in the U.S. are very hotly debated, with nongun owners saying more gun laws should be enforced gun owners saying there should not be more laws enforced, some even argue to rename gun restrictions. Gun owners say that people who are making these laws do not know what they are talking about because they have never owned a gun so they wouldn 't know that most gun owners do not use guns for violence but maybe for hunting and target practicing. According to the Lancet, there have been 464,033 total gun deaths between 1999 and 2013, (270,237 suicides, 174,773 homicides, and 9,983 unintentional deaths.) These gun death totals have increased in the last four years, and many are suicides. More gun control laws could make it so anyone couldn 't own a gun without special permission and special rules. So this would lead to fewer suicides plus if anybody could own a gun or have a gun on them at all times people can get threatened or scared if they were to see a concealed gun. What would anybody think if you saw a stranger having a gun on them because you don 't often see people with them, they may think it 's going to be a mass murderer or something similar. So that means that a gun can make a situation seem violent. Others may also say that gun control laws do not determine crime but gun ownership determines crime, anyone who can read this would think that it 's not going to be true for everyone in the world because we are all different. A military grade firearm is the most common weapon used in mass shootings. Owners of military grade weapons don 't find this very dangerous because they think people who think they can control the weapon like that know how to use it properly and safely, But many people are proven wrong because of all of our recent terrorism and attacks on people with guns. But then again others can argue that because military grade weapons should only be used by our government. The military should be able to use them because they will use the weapons safely and correctly for all the right purposes. Others may say that people might want them only as a weapon because they want to keep their family safe or themselves safe rather than to hurt other people for no reason.
