Just how trustworthy Iran will be if encountered with nuclear weapons has long been a conversation of great concern for many all over the world. There are several factors that play into the reasons why they should or should not be allowed to attain these weapons of mass destruction. However, although some may lean towards giving them this right, for the secured safety of everyone, it seems best to keep such deadly weapons away from Iran; the United States of America has many reasons for doing so. Such reasons include Iran’s history and the risks of an attack on Israel, which led to the agreement between the US and Iran. Iran’s nuclear program first began in the 1950’s. For this reason, the United States seems to have created a stronger bond with Iran, in hopes of helping them and intern protecting the rest of the world. As stated,“Iran is America's most powerful enemy” (Good 15); the United States doesn’t trust Iran with a nuclear weapon mainly due to the fact that Iran has many times verbally attacked Israel, a strong ally of the US. Such verbal threats towards Israel include when Iran stated that , “Israel should be a state” (44), indicating they had another plan set for Israel, most probably in occupying the area if they had the power or nuclear weapons to do so. Recently, Israel has discovered Iran’s nuclear facility was, “infected with the Stuxnet virus in an international cyber attack” (35). Allowing Iran the capabilities of producing nuclear weapons could lead to immediate spread of this deadly disease to areas all over the world as a result of an attack on one place. Also, the United States isn’t the only country worried about Iran having a nuclear weapon, Saudi Arabia, and several other middle east countries are too.
