Nor is there a word so powerful; that it’s going to send the listener to the lake of fire upon hearing it.” Censoring music is not the best idea for many reasons. Music should not be censored because artists use music to express their opinions, music is used to calm people and it is the choice of the person to regulate what they listen to. First of all, artists use music as an opportunity to express himself. The article, “Merle Haggard” stated, “His difficult past provided him with extensive emotion and material for his music, allowing his newfound success to continue”(Merle). As “Most Valid Pros and Cons of Music Censorship,” stated, “They also believe that any individual above 18 years of age is mature enough to know what music to appreciate or not” (Most Valid Pros and Cons). As people get older, they start to listen to different kinds of music and being above the age of 18, they should know what to listen to. Also in the article, “Most Valid Pros and Cons of Music Censorship,” it stated that “And for children, parents should be the ones to monitor and keep their kids safe”(Most valid Pros and Cons). Kids don’t yet know what everything means and if they listen to music with profanity, they might repeat it and that’s why they need parents. To prevent this from happening, parents are responsible to regulate what their kids are listening to. Even if there is a little kid that listened or heard music with profanity, it is up to the adults to tell the children that it is not okay to repeat it. When most kids get told and/or yelled at for listening to a certain kind of music, they usually will not listen to that again. On the other hand, many people say that little kids don’t know or understand what they listen to, but it is strictly up to their parents to regulate what they are listening
