Net neutrality sets up a wall that prevents companies from becoming corrupt, and every company, start-up or conglomerate, has the same abilities on the Internet. By removing net neutrality, entrepreneurs and start-up businesses will also become inferior to the tech giants such as Netflix. This is part of the reason that Netflix has stepped away from the net neutrality front lines. They are so large that whatever is decided will not hurt them or help them. The reason that the big content providers won’t be effected is because all the ISPs will make deals with them. Any new company will be automatically in the slow lane and that, in turn, will hinder their growth. They will not have the same opportunities as the content giants of today had when they started up. On the other hand, when some of these companies started, the Internet was just launching off the ground and net neutrality wasn’t really a thing, because no one needed it to be (Greenstein et al, 2016). There were no big ISPs and the Internet was only used by a few people. It wasn’t until the past couple decades that the Internet became a massive interconnection of billions of people. Because so many people use the Internet, there is a vast amount of currency that can be seized by many people. Regulation had to be put in place because without it, people would take advantage of the opportunity
