Now a days, when someone even mentions the word welfare, it’s almost like they have said a bad word. Welfare has become one of those subjects that tend to make people angry to talk about. It’s all about who you are talking to. Poor people see welfare as there means of survival for food, housing, bills and everything else. Welfare is good for a lot of things like people that are disabled, unemployed, poor, and the elder. The major problem that makes people so mad about welfare is that it wasn’t meant for people to stay on it or need it forever. Welfare was meant to be a short term temporary solution for helping people to get on their feet and be able to help people to take care of themselves. This is where the government gives a person a certain amount of money that is to only be used for food. This seems like something so simple but, the problem is, instead of food, people have found a way to scam the system. I have seen first hand how people will sell their EBT card for cash money. Some welfare recipients will even buy up a certain amount of food and then sell it to someone for cash. Its situations like this that really make hard-working people angry. Some EBT recipients sell their cards for cash to buy clothes, jewelry and even hair products. What’s the solution to this? So far, there isn’t one.
