The Truth of Romeo and Juliet What does love mean to you? In The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet William Shakespeare uses the emotion of love to convey a story and retell this well known play, which was written using blank verse as Shakspeare thought it was similar to everyday speech, but it was harder to understand for some listeners. Throughout The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet two teenagers from different feuding families fall in love which results in a tragic and depressing end as death, hate, and love is seen. With the use of the three literary terms, protagonist, antagonist, and character motivation Shakespeare builds an interesting and compelling play that leaves readers feeling many emotions. Throughout the poem The Tragedy Of Romeo and Juliet we see many poor decisions made and their motivation is questionable because together as readers understand the outcome, and this reasoning is why examining the character's motivation is important.
