Dear, Theatre Design Admissions Board: This letter states my intentions for applying to the University of Alberta Theatre Design Program for the Fall of 2016, and why I would be a great candidate for this program. I would like to study at the University of Alberta’s Theatre Design Program because of the way the program is geared towards hands on learning, giving you experience in which you can use in your career later on. As an artist and student I thrive in environments that allow you to be innovative and hands on, which is why I believe I would be a great fit for this program. I found it so fascinating that architects got to create, and as a child creating seemed so fun. This is something that I never lost sight of, when I come up with new pieces or ideas the work is not just work for me but my passion. One might describe a theatre designer as an architect for the stage, who require unlimited creativity and imagination.This is something I do not lack, creativity and imagination, is a huge part of who I am as a student and artist. I often imagine sets for books, poetry, art, and even music. In my creative processes my imagination is constantly thinking of new ideas to test out. My interested in Theatre Design arose in high school when I saw my first Broadway Musical, Wicked.While watching the show, it dawned on me that somebody created a whole world on the stage.. Watching the show you were no longer in New York, but Oz and you became invested in the show. In theatre the sets heighten the emotion of the story for the audience, working together with the script to create a complete story. I want to go into theatre design to help create magical stories for the audience to experience an fall in love with, like I did with
